What is the difference between an AI agent, a chatbot and automation?
A chatbot answers questions in a chat box. Automation moves information between apps by fixed rules. An AI agent can read messy things, like a photo of an invoice or a long message, work out what to do, and do it in your apps. Many good setups use all three.

All three, side by side
Chatbot: a box on a website that answers common questions. Automation: when someone fills in a form, a line is added to a sheet. AI agent: reads a photo of an invoice, finds shop and total, checks them against your records, saves it, and tells you if something looks wrong.
Which one do you need
If a job is the same every time and information comes in neatly, simple automation is enough. If information is messy, or each next step depends on what was said, an AI agent fits. A good first call works out which one you really need, even when that is the simplest one.
More questions
- Do I need to replace my current tools?
- No. Your agent works inside tools you already use.
- What if automation is enough for me?
- That gets said on your first call. The simplest option that does the job is the right one.
